ZLP Manufacturing Recalls Hornet Zip Line Trolleys Due to Fall Hazard (Recall Alert)

Summary

ZLP Manufacturing is recalling about 2,000 Hornet zip line trolleys because the T-shaped retaining pin can accidentally release. If the pin releases, the two side plates of the trolley can separate and cause the unit to fall off the zip line while in use. These trolleys feature yellow triangular side plates with "ZLP Hornet" cut into them and were sold online at zlpmanufacturing.com and backyardziplines.com between November 2010 and July 2013 for approximately $150.

Risk

The retaining pin holding the trolley together can dislodge, causing the device to fall off the cable. This poses a serious fall hazard to riders, and there have already been two reports of the trolley falling off zip lines.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the ZLP Hornet zip line trolley and check if it has a T-shaped retaining pin with a blue push-button on the end.
  2. Identify your unit by looking for yellow, triangular side plates with the words "ZLP Hornet" cut into one of the plates and black handle grips.
  3. Contact ZLP Manufacturing toll-free at 888-771-2579 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday to receive a free repair kit containing a replacement retaining pin.
  4. You can also visit www.zlpmanufacturing.com and click on the recall link at the top of the page for more information and repair instructions.
