Summary

ZF North America is recalling 2,312 transmission control units because an insufficient weld can allow transmission fluid to leak onto electrical components. This defect was identified based on related recall determinations by BMW and Chrysler (FCA US, LLC). If transmission fluid leaks onto the internal electronics, it can cause the vehicle to lose drive power or fail to stay in the 'Park' position.

Risk

A loss of drive power while moving or a failure of the park function can significantly increase the risk of a crash or a vehicle roll-away incident.
