Summary

Zebra Technologies is recalling approximately 166,000 power supply units used with various Zebra brand thermal industrial printers. These units, which were sold both with new printers and as individual aftermarket kits, can degrade and corrode over time when exposed to moisture. The firm has received three reports of the units overheating or catching fire, including one incident where a fire damaged the printer and the surrounding workspace. Consumers should immediately stop using these power supplies and contact Zebra for a free replacement.

Risk

The internal components of the power supply can corrode when exposed to moisture, causing the unit to overheat and pose a fire hazard. Three incidents of overheating or fire have been reported, with one fire spreading from the connector to the printer and surrounding area.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled power supply units and unplug them from the electrical outlet.
  2. Check the label on your power supply unit for the Zebra or FSP North America logo to confirm the brand.
  3. Verify the part number printed under the barcode at the top of the label. Affected part numbers are 808099-001, 808101-001, 808099-002, and 808099-003.
  4. Identify the date code (D/C) printed on the bottom label. Recalled units have date codes ranging from 1039XX through 1052XX and 1101XX through 1152XX.
