Yu Shang Ready-to-Eat Meat and Poultry Products Recalled for Listeria

Summary

Yu Shang Food, Inc. is recalling approximately 72,240 pounds of various ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This is an expansion of an earlier recall and now includes all products produced prior to October 28, 2024. FSIS is investigating a multistate outbreak of Listeria infections linked to these products, with testing confirming the presence of the bacteria in product and environmental samples. Affected items were sold at retail locations nationwide and through online purchase.

Risk

Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that can lead to fever, muscle aches, headache, and convulsions. In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, or life-threatening infections in newborns, and it can be fatal for older adults or individuals with weakened immune systems.
