Summary

Yamaha is recalling about 200 model year 2015 SRViper L-TX and SRViper M-TX 162 LE snowmobiles. The brake line and its components can rub against the clutch, which can cause the brakes to fail unexpectedly. These blue and orange snowmobiles were sold at Yamaha dealers nationwide between February 2015 and April 2015. Owners should immediately stop using the vehicles and contact a dealer for a free repair.

Risk

The brake line can come into contact with the moving clutch, causing the line to wear through and the brakes to fail. This poses a severe risk of injury or death to the rider or others if the vehicle cannot be stopped.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled 2015 SRViper snowmobiles until they have been repaired.
  2. Identify your snowmobile by checking the model name on the left and right side of the fuel tank cowling for 'SRViper' and the side of the vehicle for 'Yamaha'.
  3. Locate the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) stamped on the frame (tunnel) near the right foot well. Affected units will have the letter 'F' in the 10th position, indicating a 2015 model year.
  4. Contact your local Yamaha dealer to schedule a free repair. Yamaha is also contacting all registered owners directly regarding this recall.
