Summary

Xtreme Outdoor Products (XOP) is recalling approximately 1,165 climbing sticks because the center step's bolt can fail, causing the stick to break. There have been two reports of injuries, including a fractured foot, broken ribs, and various scrapes and bruises. These sand ripple green climbing sticks were sold as a 4-pack and measure about 36 inches tall. Consumers should immediately stop using these products and return them to the company for a full refund or store credit.

Risk

A bolt on the center step of the climbing stick can fail during use, causing the stick to break while a consumer is climbing. This defect creates a significant fall hazard, which has already resulted in serious injuries including bone fractures.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your climbing stick equipment for the model number XOP-LMO4-SR, which is printed on the original product box.
  2. Identify the affected products by their 'sand ripple green' color, 36-inch height, and three-climbing-step design.
  3. Immediately stop using the recalled climbing sticks to avoid the risk of falling.
  4. Return the affected climbing sticks to Xtreme Outdoor Products (XOP) to receive a full refund or a refund in the form of a store credit.
  5. Contact XOP toll-free at 877-544-6611 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or by email at service@xopoutdoors.com for return instructions.
