Summary

Xootr is recalling approximately 3,000 adult kick scooters because the steer support can break during normal use. This recall includes all silver silver-colored scooters (30 inches long by 10 inches wide) with a plastic, wood, or metal deck and the QuickClick push-button latching mechanism. Six reports of breaks in the steer supports have been received, including one report of a user suffering scrapes and bruises from a fall. Consumers should immediately stop using these scooters and contact Xootr for a free repair.

Risk

The steer support on the front of the scooter can unexpectedly break while being ridden, causing the user to lose control and fall. There have been six reports of these components breaking, one of which resulted in minor injuries.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your scooter is affected by checking for a black push button (the QuickClick latching mechanism) located on the silver steer support above the front wheel.
  2. Look for the Xootr logo on the deck and the lower section of the handlebar to confirm the brand.
  3. Check if your scooter was purchased between November 2016 and January 2017 from retailers such as Amazon.com, Xootr.com, Lajolla Swim and Sport, Nyce Wheels, or San Francyclo.
  4. Immediately stop using the recalled scooters to prevent a potential fall.
  5. Contact Xootr at 800-816-2724 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or by email at support@xootr.com, to receive a free repair.
  6. Visit www.xootr.com and click on 'Recall Information' for additional details on how to receive your replacement steer support.
