Summary

Autocar, LLC is recalling approximately 11,353 heavy-duty vehicles, including various models from the 2008-2020 model years. A parking brake control valve in these vehicles can wear out over time, causing air to leak into the vent line and create back pressure that unexpectedly releases the parking brake. Owners should contact an Autocar dealer to have the vent line and fitting removed from the valve at no cost to resolve this safety issue.

Risk

The parking brake may release unexpectedly while the vehicle is stationary, allowing it to roll away without a driver at the controls. This significantly increases the risk of a crash or injury to bystanders.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make and model year to see if it is one of the affected Autocar models: 2012-2016 Xpert, 2010-2020 Xspotter, 2008-2020 Xpeditor, or 2008-2010 WXLL and WX.
  2. If your vehicle is included in this recall, contact an authorized Autocar service center to schedule a free repair. Dealers will remove the vent line and fitting from the control valve.
  3. You can contact Autocar customer service directly at 1-888-218-3611 and refer to recall numbers ACX-2023 or ACTT-2301.
