Winnebago Industries, Inc: Inadequate Turn Signal Luminosity/FMVSS 108

Summary

Winnebago Industries is recalling approximately 17,329 motorhomes across various models including the Forza, Vista, Journey, and Sunstar from model years 2013 through 2022. These vehicles are equipped with turn signals that have a luminous lens area smaller than required by federal safety standards. Because the lens is too small, other drivers may have difficulty seeing the turn signals, which increases the risk of a crash. Winnebago will replace the affected turn signals free of charge through authorized dealers.

Risk

The turn signal lenses are smaller than federally mandated safety sizes, making it harder for other drivers to notice when the motorhome is signaling a turn or lane change. This lack of visibility significantly increases the risk of a collision.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your motorhome is affected by checking the model and year against this recall list, which includes various 2013-2022 Winnebago and Itasca models such as the Forza, Vista, Journey, Sunstar, and Adventurer.
  2. Contact Winnebago Customer Care at 1-800-537-1885 to confirm if your specific vehicle is included in this recall (reference Winnebago recall number 189).
  3. Schedule a free appointment with an authorized Winnebago dealer to have the turn signals replaced once the final remedy becomes available in late April 2026.
  4. If you have already received an interim owner letter (mailed November 27, 2024), keep it for your records and watch for a second notice regarding the final repair.
  5. For additional questions or to check your VIN, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
