Hyundai Motor America: 2020-2021 Palisade Vehicles Recalled for Windshield Wiper Failure

Summary

Hyundai is recalling 122,949 of its 2020-2021 Palisade vehicles because the windshield wiper motor may stop working. If the motor fails, the wipers will no longer clear the windshield during rain or snow, which can suddenly and dangerously reduce your ability to see the road. Owners can have this issue fixed for free at a Hyundai dealership, where technicians will replace the driver-side windshield wiper arm.

Risk

The windshield wiper motor can become inoperative, causing the wipers to fail during use. This loss of visibility while driving in inclement weather significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your vehicle identification number (VIN) on the NHTSA website or by identifying your vehicle as a 2020-2021 Hyundai Palisade.
  2. Contact an authorized Hyundai dealer to schedule a free appointment to have the driver-side windshield wiper arm replaced.
  3. If you have questions, contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 and reference recall number 233.
  4. For additional information, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
