Volvo Trucks North America: Volvo VNR, VNL, VHD, and VAH Trucks Recalled for Faulty Windshield Wipers

Summary

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling 55,012 trucks, including 2022-2024 models of the VNR, VNL, VHD, and VAH series. The gears inside the windshield wiper motor can wear out much earlier than expected, which causes the motor to stop working and the wipers to fail. Dealers will replace the entire windshield wiper motor assembly for free to ensure visibility is maintained during rain or snow.

Risk

If the windshield wipers fail during operation, the driver's visibility will be significantly reduced, which increases the immediate risk of a vehicle crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle records or the VIN plate to see if you own a 2022, 2023, or 2024 Volvo VNR, VNL, VHD, or VAH truck.
  2. Contact an authorized Volvo Trucks dealer to schedule a service appointment for a free replacement of the windshield wiper motor assembly.
  3. If you have questions, contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586 and reference recall number RVXX2309.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
