Summary

Corp. Micro Bird, Inc. is recalling 22 G5 school buses from model years 2006-2008, 2010-2012, 2014-2015, and 2020-2021 that are equipped with transversal wheelchair track anchorages. These anchorages, which are used to secure wheelchairs to the vehicle floor, may not be sufficiently fastened and could detach during a vehicle crash. This defect means the buses fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 222, and Micro Bird dealers will reattach these anchorages for free to ensure occupant safety.

Risk

If the wheelchair track anchorages detach during a crash, the wheelchair and its occupant will not be adequately restrained, significantly increasing the risk of serious injury or death.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle records or identification plate to determine if you own a Micro Bird G5 school bus from model years 2006-2008, 2010-2012, 2014-2015, or 2020-2021 equipped with transversal wheelchair track anchorages.
  2. Contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012 to verify if your specific vehicle is included in this recall (Micro Bird recall number 23-104-TUS).
  3. Schedule a free appointment with an authorized dealer to have the transversal anchorages reattached and properly secured.
