Summary

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling approximately 600 school buses, including 2025 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner EFX, 2025-2027 Minotour DRW, 2026 Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley, HDX, and 2026-2027 Saf-T-Liner C2 models. These buses are equipped with QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max wheelchair restraints where the retractor mechanism may fail to lock. If the retractor does not lock, the wheelchair cannot be properly secured to the vehicle floor. Dealers will inspect and replace the wheelchair retractors free of charge to ensure passenger safety.

Risk

A wheelchair that is not properly secured can move freely or tip over while the bus is in motion or during sudden stops. This movement significantly increases the risk of injury to the person in the wheelchair as well as other passengers on the bus.

  2. Identify if your bus is equipped with these specific wheelchair restraint systems and check the retractor units to see if they lock properly when engaged.
