Approximately 708 bags (5.77 tons) of Kruse's Perfection Western Blend Horse Feed and Promise Formula are being recalled after three horse deaths were reported. The animal feed tested positive for monensin, a medication that is extremely toxic to horses even in small amounts. These products were sold in 50 lb. bags primarily in California and Arizona.

The feed contains monensin, which is a common additive for cattle and poultry but is lethal to horses, causing permanent heart damage or death. Three horses have died after consuming this specific lot of feed.
