Summary

Hyundai is recalling approximately 90,907 vehicles, including 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis, 2017-2019 Genesis G80, 2017-2019 Genesis G90, and 2019 Genesis G70 models. Water can enter the starter solenoid and cause an electrical short circuit, which can lead to a fire in the engine compartment. Owners are advised to park their vehicles outdoors and away from structures until the free dealer repair is completed.

Risk

An electrical short in the starter solenoid can cause a fire while the vehicle is driving or even when it is parked. Owners should park outside and away from buildings or other structures to prevent a vehicle fire from spreading to homes or garages.

What You Should Do

  1. Park this vehicle outdoors, away from structures — do NOT park in a garage due to fire risk until the repair is complete.
  2. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if it is included: 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis, 2017-2019 Genesis G80, 2017-2019 Genesis G90, or 2019 Genesis G70.
  3. Contact a Hyundai or Genesis dealer to schedule a free installation of a remedy relay kit in the engine junction box.
  4. For additional information, contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 and reference recall numbers 254(H) or 018G(G).
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more details.
