Endera Motors: 2021-2024 School Buses Recalled for Missing Seat Anchorage Washers

Summary

Endera Motors is recalling 180 of its 2021-2024 school buses because the seat assemblies may have been installed without reinforcing washers on the floor anchorage bolts. This defect means the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 222 regarding school bus passenger seating and crash protection. To fix this, dealers will inspect the seats and install the necessary reinforcing washers free of charge.

Risk

If the reinforcing washers are missing, the seat assembly can detach from the floor during a crash. This allows the seat to move unexpectedly, significantly increasing the risk of injury to passengers.

What You Should Do

  1. Contact an authorized Endera Motors dealer to schedule a free inspection of your 2021-2024 school bus seat anchorage bolts.
  2. If the inspection reveals that reinforcing washers are missing, the dealer will install them at no cost to you.
  3. For further questions or to confirm if your vehicle is affected, contact Endera customer service at 419-523-3593.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
