Summary

Volkswagen Group of America is recalling approximately 18,853 Audi E-Tron and E-Tron Sportback vehicles from model years 2019 through 2024. A fastener connecting the brake pedal to the brake booster may have been improperly tightened during manufacturing, which can cause the pedal to detach entirely while driving. Dealers will inspect the pushrod screw joint and tighten it as necessary at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the brake pedal detaches from the brake booster, the driver will experience a complete loss of braking function, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by using the NHTSA VIN search tool at www.nhtsa.gov/recalls or by contacting Audi customer service.
  2. Contact an authorized Audi dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair of the brake pedal's pushrod screw joint.
  3. If you have questions, contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 and reference recall number 46P7.
  4. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for additional information.
