Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 3,606 model year 2019-2021 Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) vehicles because the high voltage battery pack can catch fire. These fires can occur even when the ignition is turned off and the vehicle is parked. To address this risk, dealers will update the battery pack control module software and, if necessary, replace the entire battery pack assembly at no cost to owners.

Risk

The battery pack may experience an internal failure that causes the vehicle to catch fire while parked and unattended. Because of this fire risk, owners are advised to park their vehicles outdoors and away from structures until the repair is completed.

What You Should Do

  1. Park this vehicle outdoors, away from structures — do NOT park in a garage due to fire risk.
  2. Immediately stop charging your vehicle until the recall repair has been performed.
  3. Check if your vehicle is included in this recall by contacting FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and referencing recall number 72B.
  4. Schedule a free appointment with an authorized dealer to have the high voltage battery pack control module (BPCM) software updated and the battery pack assembly inspected for potential replacement.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
