Summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling 303,770 of its 2023-2024 Accord and HR-V vehicles. The front seat belt pretensioners in these vehicles may be missing a critical rivet that secures the quick connector and wire plate, causing the system to fail federal safety standards. If your vehicle is affected, dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt pretensioner assemblies as necessary at no cost to you.

Risk

A seat belt pretensioner missing a rivet will not properly tighten the belt or restrain you during a collision, significantly increasing your risk of injury during a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is a 2023-2024 Honda Accord or a 2023-2024 Honda HR-V.
  2. Contact any authorized Honda dealer to schedule a free inspection and potential replacement of the front seat belt pretensioner assemblies.
  3. If you have further questions, contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 and reference recall numbers MG7 or NG5.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
