Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 6 specific 2022-2023 EQS450 and 2022 EQS580 luxury electric vehicles. The bolts that anchor the rear seat belt buckles to the vehicle frame may not have been tightened correctly during manufacturing. Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect these bolts and secure them properly at no cost to the vehicle owners.

Risk

If the seat belt buckle bolts are loose, the seat belt may not stay attached to the vehicle frame during a collision. This means the seat belt will fail to properly restrain the passenger, significantly increasing the risk of serious injury during a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make and model to see if you own a 2022-2023 EQS450 or a 2022 EQS580.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership to schedule a free inspection and repair of your rear seat belt buckle bolts.
  3. If you have additional questions or need assistance, contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6373 and reference recall number 2023070009.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
