Summary

Chrysler is recalling approximately 2,564 Jeep Wrangler Plug-In Hybrid Electric vehicles (PHEV) from the 2022 and 2023 model years. These vehicles were manufactured with incorrect fasteners used to secure the 200-amp high voltage battery fuse, which can lead to excessive heat buildup. Dealers will inspect and replace the fuse and any damaged battery components free of charge.

Risk

The unsecured fuse can generate excessive heat and fail while the vehicle is in operation, causing a sudden loss of drive power and increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Locate your vehicle's 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to check if your 2022-2023 Jeep Wrangler Plug-In Hybrid Electric vehicle (PHEV) is part of this recall.
  2. Contact a Chrysler dealer to schedule a free inspection of your high voltage battery assembly.
  3. If the inspection reveals an incorrect fastener, the dealer will replace the high voltage battery fuse and check the battery assembly for heat-related damage, replacing it if necessary at no cost to you.
  4. Contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number 53A for more information.
  5. For additional assistance or to verify your VIN online, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
