Summary

Hyundai is recalling 49,719 of its 2024 Santa Fe and Santa Fe HEV vehicles because a wiring harness located on the floor can be damaged by the second-row seat assembly. If the wiring is damaged, it can cause the air bags to deploy without warning or fail to deploy when they are needed during a crash. Owners should take their vehicle to a Hyundai dealer for a free inspection and repair to ensure the safety system functions correctly.

Risk

A damaged wiring harness can cause air bags to inflate unexpectedly while driving, increasing the risk of injury and loss of vehicle control, or prevent air bags from inflating during a collision, leaving occupants unprotected.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if you own a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe or 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle).
  2. Contact an authorized Hyundai dealer to schedule a free inspection of your vehicle's main floor wiring harness.
  3. Allow the dealer to repair or replace the wiring harness as necessary, which will be performed at no cost to you.
  4. If you have further questions, contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 and mention recall number 265.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls.
