Summary

Approximately 280,663 Toyota Tundra, Tundra Hybrid, Sequoia Hybrid, and Lexus LX600 vehicles are being recalled due to a transmission defect. These 2022-2024 model year vehicles may experience unexpected movement when the transmission is in neutral and the brakes are not applied. Dealers will perform a free software update to the transmission control unit to resolve the issue.

Risk

Internal transmission components may not immediately disengage when the vehicle is shifted to neutral, allowing engine power to continue reaching the wheels. This can cause the vehicle to creep forward unexpectedly at low speeds on level surfaces, increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking your specific model and year: 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra, 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid, 2022-2024 Lexus LX600, or 2023-2024 Toyota Sequoia Hybrid.
  2. Contact a Toyota or Lexus dealer to schedule a free appointment for a transmission control ECU software update.
  3. You may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 or Lexus customer service for more information regarding recall numbers 24TA02 and 24LA02.
  4. For additional questions or to check your VIN, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
