Summary

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling 11 of its 2023 FCCC MT50e electric vans because of a defect in the battery pack. An insufficient internal connection can cause the battery management system to shut down without warning, leading to a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. To fix this safety hazard, authorized dealers will replace the affected battery packs in these vehicles free of charge.

Risk

A sudden shutdown of the battery management system causes the vehicle to lose all propulsion power immediately. This unexpected loss of drive power while in traffic significantly increases the risk of a crash.
