Summary

Chrysler is recalling approximately 67,117 Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric vehicles (PHEVs) from the model years 2017 through 2023. An internal transmission wiring connector in these minivans can short circuit, which may cause the engine to shut down suddenly while driving. To address this safety issue, authorized dealers will provide free software updates for the Power Inverter Module and, if necessary, the instrument cluster and engine control module.

Risk

If the internal wiring shorts out, the vehicle can experience a sudden loss of drive power while in motion, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.
