Summary

Power Solutions International, Inc. (PSI) is recalling 8,046 engine control modules (ECM) used in various heavy-duty vehicles. The affected engines may trigger a specific fault code that causes the engine to shut down unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion. PSI is working directly with vehicle manufacturers including Navistar and Daimler Trucks North America to provide a free software update to the ECM calibration.

Risk

If the engine shuts down unexpectedly while driving, the vehicle will lose power, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking for recall notices from Navistar (recalls 21V837, 21V838) or Daimler Trucks North America (recalls 22V438, 22V439).

  3. Schedule a free appointment with your vehicle manufacturer's authorized service center to have the Engine Control Module (ECM) calibration updated.
