Summary

Approximately 1,400 U.S. Polo Assn. girl's jackets are being recalled because a band of material at the neck poses a strangulation hazard to young children. The jackets were sold in fuchsia, green, and cream colors in girl's sizes 4 through 16. These items were sold at Burlington Coat Factory, Kids Stop, and Cookie's Department Stores between August 2013 and October 2013 for about $15. Consumers should immediately stop using the jackets and either remove the hazardous neck band or return the product for a full refund.

Risk

The jacket features a decorative band of material at the neck that can catch on objects or tighten around a child's neck, posing a risk of strangulation. No incidents or injuries have been reported to date.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your jacket for the U.S. Polo Assn. name, the year 1890, and crossed polo mallets on the upper right exterior, and a silhouette of two polo players with 'USPA' on the upper left exterior.
  2. Locate the white tracking label tag sewn into the inside of the jacket near the waistband to verify the style number: look for U274-200 (sizes 4-6) or U274-300 (sizes 7-16).
  3. Immediately stop wearing the jacket and either remove or cut the band at the neck to eliminate the strangulation hazard.
  4. Alternatively, contact Q4 Designs LLC at (800) 741-0127 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, or online at www.q4designs.com to obtain a full refund.
  5. Call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 if you have additional questions regarding this recall.
