Summary

Trimfoot is recalling approximately 5,300 First Impressions high-top, soft-soled sneakers for infants. A small metal eyelet on the inside of the shoe can detach, creating a serious choking hazard for young children. These shoes were sold exclusively at Macy's stores nationwide between February 2014 and August 2014 for about $17. Consumers should immediately stop using these shoes and return them to Macy's for a full refund.

Risk

A small metal eyelet used for the laces can break away from the inside of the sneaker. If an infant swallows this detached metal piece, it poses a significant choking hazard.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the inside of the infant sneakers for a cloth tag with style number 42090.
  2. Identify the shoes by their appearance: blue denim soles and uppers, brown canvas tongues, tan shoe laces, and white polyurethane toes in sizes 0, 1, 2, or 3.
  3. Immediately take the recalled sneakers away from children to prevent use.
  4. Return the recalled shoes to any Macy's store for a full refund.
  5. Alternatively, contact Trimfoot at 800-325-6116 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.trimfootco.com and click on 'Recall' for more information on receiving a refund.
  6. For additional questions, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
