Summary

Trek has recalled approximately 2,600 model year 2014 and 2015 Farley bicycles and framesets because the fork can separate from the steer tube. There have been five reports of this separation occurring, which can cause a rider to lose control and fall. These bicycles were sold in various colors and sizes through bicycle stores nationwide between September 2013 and August 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the bicycles and return them to a Trek retailer for a free inspection and repair.

Risk

The bicycle fork can detach from the steer tube while in use, leading to an immediate loss of steering control and posing a serious fall hazard. Five incidents of fork separation have been reported to date.

  3. Verify if your bike is within the affected size range of 14.5 through 21.5 inches.
  4. Contact an authorized Trek retailer to schedule a free inspection and repair of the fork and steer tube assembly.
