Summary

New Flyer of America, Inc. is recalling approximately 2,351 transit buses, including 2019-2024 XD35, XD40, XN35, and XN40 models. The transmission yoke on these buses may separate, which can lead to the driveshaft disconnecting and a sudden loss of power while driving. New Flyer is coordinating with the equipment manufacturer, Allison Transmission Inc., to inspect and tighten the transmission yoke bolts free of charge to resolve this safety issue.

Risk

If the transmission yoke separates from the driveshaft, the bus will experience a sudden loss of drive power. This unexpected loss of movement while in traffic significantly increases the risk of a crash.
