Summary

Allison Transmission, Inc. is recalling approximately 8,498 B3400xFE_R and B400R transmission models. The transmission yoke can loosen and separate, which may cause the driveshaft to detach and lead to a sudden loss of vehicle power. Dealers will inspect the output yoke bolts and tighten any loose bolts free of charge to prevent vehicle failure.

Risk

If the transmission yoke separates, the driveshaft can detach, causing an immediate loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. This increases the risk of a crash and may require passengers to evacuate a disabled bus in dangerous, uncontrolled traffic conditions.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is equipped with Allison Transmission models B3400xFE_R or B400R (part numbers B3400xFE_R and B400R).
  2. Contact an authorized Allison Transmission, Inc. (ATI) dealer to schedule a free inspection of your transmission's output yoke bolts.
  3. If the inspection reveals loose output yoke bolts, the dealer will tighten them to the correct specifications at no cost to you.
  4. For further information or questions regarding this recall (ATI recall number 2023FA04), contact Allison Transmission customer service at 1-317-242-5000.
