Summary

Toysmith has recalled approximately 30,000 light-up soft plastic toy frogs and ducks because a metal conductor pin on the bottom of the toys can come out. These toys light up when placed in water or touched. They were sold exclusively at Cost Plus World Market between July 2012 and December 2012 for about $3. Consumers should immediately stop using these toys, keep them away from children, and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Risk

The small metal pin on the base of the toy can detach, creating a small part that poses a serious choking hazard to young children. While no injuries have been reported, the defect allows a dangerous component to be easily accessible.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify your toy by checking the shape (frog or duck) and color. Recalled items include green frogs and ducks in yellow, pink, and clear colors.
  2. Check the round tag attached to the product for UPC number 2424 5159 to confirm it is part of the recall.
  3. Verify the dimensions: the affected toys are approximately 2.25 inches long and 1.5 inches high.
  4. Immediately stop using the recalled toys and place them out of the reach of children.
  5. Return the recalled product to any Cost Plus World Market store to receive a full refund.
  6. Contact Toysmith at 800-356-0474 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday or visit www.toysmith.com and click on 'Safety' for more information.
  7. Call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 for additional questions regarding this recall.
