Summary

Toys R Us is recalling approximately 6,500 Fast Lane FA-005 Radio Control 3-Channel Helicopters (and an additional 900 in Canada) because the internal rechargeable battery can overheat. There have been 11 reports worldwide of batteries overheating, which can cause fires or burns to users and nearby property. The recalled blue and white helicopters were sold nationwide and online between September 2012 and January 2013 for about $100. Consumers should immediately stop using the helicopter and return it to any Toys R Us store for a full refund or store credit.

Risk

The rechargeable battery inside the helicopter can overheat during use or charging, creating a risk of fire or burn injuries to the operator and damage to nearby items.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your helicopter and packaging for model number 5F5F2F5. This number is printed on the front of the product box and on the underside of the helicopter itself.
  2. Verify the product features the 'Fast Lane' logo on the top and is blue and white, standing approximately 9 inches high.
  3. Immediately stop using the helicopter and disconnect it from any charging source.
  4. Return the helicopter, remote control, battery charger, and carrying case to any Toys R Us store to receive a full refund or store credit.
  5. Contact Toys R Us at 800-869-7787 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET Monday through Saturday, or 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET on Sunday for more information.
  6. For additional questions, you may contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
