Summary

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling approximately 126,691 vehicles, specifically 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra, 2022-2024 Lexus LX, and 2024 Lexus GX models equipped with V35A engines. Debris from the manufacturing process may have been left inside the engine, which can cause internal bearings to fail and lead to a sudden engine stall. If the engine stalls while driving, the vehicle will lose drive power, which increases the risk of a crash. Toyota is currently developing a repair and expects to have it ready by July or August 2026.

Risk

Machining debris inside the engine can contaminate the oil and cause the main bearings to fail. This failure results in a sudden engine stall and a total loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion, which significantly increases the danger of a collision.

What You Should Do

  1. The recalled vehicles include certain 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX models, as well as 2024 Lexus GX models, all of which are equipped with V35A engines.
  2. Locate your 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the driver's side dashboard or the door pillar and check your recall status at www.nhtsa.gov/recalls or through the Toyota and Lexus owner portals.
  3. Note the manufacturer's internal recall numbers for reference: 25TB14 and 25TA14 for Toyota, and 25LB07 and 25LA07 for Lexus.
  4. Wait for notification; Toyota mailed interim letters in December 2025 and will send a second letter once the final free repair is available, which is anticipated for summer 2026.
  5. Contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 if you have questions regarding this recall or the V35A engine machining debris issue.
  6. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
