Summary

Towsleys is recalling about 1,500 units of its 3-in-1 Qi wireless chargers, 6700 mAh power banks, and travel chargers because the devices can overheat and catch fire. There have been four reported incidents, including two fires, one of which caused approximately $6,000 in property damage. These white, square chargers were distributed to employees through a corporate redemption program at Acuitymerch.com between September 2019 and April 2020 and feature an Acuity heart logo on the front. Consumers should stop using these chargers immediately and contact Towsleys for a free replacement.

Risk

The power bank internal components can overheat during use or charging, which can lead to a fire. This has already resulted in two reported fires and significant property damage.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using and charging the white, square 3-in-1 Qi wireless chargers and power banks.
  2. Check the front of the charger for the 'Acuity' heart logo and confirm it includes a 6700 mAh power bank with a two-pronged wall plug and three USB ports.
  3. Contact Towsleys toll-free at 888-510-0488 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or by email at recall@towsleys.com or recall@go2cap.com to receive a credit for a free replacement charger.
  4. Follow the specific disposal instructions provided by Towsleys for the recalled power banks; do not throw lithium-ion batteries in the trash or recycling bins.
  5. Visit www.towsleys.com/pbrecall for additional information regarding this recall.
