Summary

Approximately 500 TJX glass beer mugs (16.9-ounce) are being recalled because they can break when used with hot liquids or heated. While no injuries have been reported in the U.S., there have been two reports of the mugs breaking in Canada, including one incident resulting in a burn injury to a consumer's abdomen. These mugs were sold exclusively at HomeGoods stores nationwide between May 2017 and June 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using these mugs with hot liquids and return them to HomeGoods for a refund.

Risk

The glass is not designed to withstand high temperatures and can shatter if heated or filled with hot liquid, which can cause serious burns from spilling fluids and lacerations from broken glass.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your glassware for a 16.9-ounce (500 ml) glass beer mug with a black label on the side that reads 'Handmade in Poland.'
  2. Inspect the bottom of the mug for a white price label containing the HomeGoods style number 069386.
  3. Immediately stop using the recalled mugs with hot liquids and do not heat them in a microwave or dishwasher.
  4. Return the mugs to any HomeGoods store to receive a full refund.
