Yokohama Off-Highway Tires America, Inc: Various Specialty Tires Recalled for Incorrect Date Codes

Summary

Yokohama Off-Highway Tires America, Inc (YOHTA) is recalling 119 specialty tires including Alliance High Speed Rib Implement, Primex Highway R-550, and Alliance Stubble Proof models. The date code portion of the Tire Identification Number (TIN) on the tire sidewall is incorrect, which violates federal safety standards for pneumatic tires. This error prevents owners from accurately determining the tire's age or identifying if the tire is subject to future safety recalls. YOHTA will replace all affected tires with new ones free of charge.

Risk

An incorrect date code makes it difficult for drivers to identify the age of the tire and determine if it is part of a safety recall, which increases the risk of a crash if a compromised tire remains in service.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the sidewall of your tires for the following models: Alliance High Speed Rib Implement (12.5L-15 FI or 11L-15FI), Primex Highway R-550 Steer and Trailer (11-22.5), Alliance 317 Implement (10.5-20 IMP), or Alliance Stubble Proof 319 SPH (11L-15FI).
  2. If you identify one of these tire models, contact Yokohama Off-Highway Tires America, Inc (YOHTA) customer service at 1-800-343-3276 to verify if your specific Tire Identification Number (TIN) is affected.
  3. If your tires are part of the recall, schedule an appointment with an authorized dealer to have the affected tires replaced free of charge.
  4. For additional information or to check your vehicle's recall status, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
