Summary

Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas, Inc. is recalling approximately 14,194 Open Country and Extensa tires. These tires may have been manufactured using an incorrect mold, which can cause the tire tread or the sidewall to detach during use. Toyo dealers will inspect the tires for specific DOT codes and mold numbers and replace any affected tires free of charge.

Risk

If the tire tread or sidewall detaches, the tire can suffer a sudden loss of air pressure. This significantly increases the risk of losing control of the vehicle and crashing.

What You Should Do

  1. Locate the DOT code and mold number on the sidewall of your Toyo Open Country or Extensa tires to determine if they are included in this recall.
  2. If your tires match the affected list, contact an authorized Toyo dealer to schedule a free inspection.
  3. If the dealer confirms your tires were produced with the incorrect mold, they will be replaced with new tires at no cost to you.
  4. For more information or to verify your specific tire size and DOT code, contact Toyo customer service at 800-442-8696.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
