Summary

Pirelli Tire, LLC is recalling 3,093 tires including the Scorpion Trail II, Metzeler Tourance Next, and Next II models. These tires were sold as replacements and were also installed as original equipment on certain Triumph motorcycles. The recall was initiated because irregular tire wear can cause the internal belt reinforcement to break, leading to pieces of the tire tread detaching during use. Pirelli will replace affected tires free of charge.

Risk

If the tire tread separates while riding, it can cause the motorcycle to become unstable, significantly increasing the risk of a crash and potential injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your motorcycle tires to see if you have the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II, Metzeler Tourance Next, or Metzeler Tourance Next II models installed.
  2. Specifically look for the Metzeler Tourance Next 150/70R18 M/C 70V tire if you own a Triumph motorcycle, as these may have been installed as original equipment.
  3. If you identify these tires on your vehicle, contact an authorized dealer to have them replaced free of charge.
  4. For more information or to verify if your specific tire size is included, contact Pirelli Customer Service at 1-800-747-3554.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
