Summary

Continental Tire the Americas is recalling 542 General Tire Altimax RT45 tires (size 235/60R18) because they may have been overcured during the manufacturing process. Tires that are overcured can experience tread separation or the sidewall may break, leading to a sudden loss of tire pressure. Authorized dealers will replace the affected tires for consumers free of charge.

Risk

If the tire sidewall breaks or the tread separates while driving, the tire can lose air pressure suddenly. This loss of pressure can cause a driver to lose control of the vehicle, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.
