Summary

Continental Tire the Americas, LLC is recalling 462 Continental HDL2 DL+ tires, size 11R24.5. These tires were manufactured with an incorrect rubber compound that can cause the steel belt edge to separate from the tire shoulder. Continental dealers will replace the affected tires with new ones free of charge.

Risk

The tire shoulder separation can spread into the sidewall, causing the tire to suddenly lose air pressure and leading to a loss of vehicle control, which increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your tires to see if they are Continental brand HDL2 DL+ models in size 11R24.5.
  2. If you have these tires, contact Continental customer service at 1-800-726-7113 to arrange for a free replacement.
  3. You can also contact an authorized Continental tire dealer to schedule the tire replacement at no cost to you.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
