Summary

Vanguard National Trailer Corporation is recalling 102 of its 2023-2024 trailer models built after November 2022 that are equipped with a SAF Holland Tire Pilot Plus (TPP) tire inflation system. An electronic controller within this system can malfunction and open check valves, causing the trailer's tires to deflate unexpectedly. Vanguard is working with the equipment manufacturer to replace and reactivate the affected tire inflation systems at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the tires lose pressure suddenly while the vehicle is in motion, the driver could lose control of the trailer, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your trailer's manufacturing date and equipment to see if it is a 2023-2024 Vanguard model built after November 2022 and equipped with the SAF Holland Tire Pilot Plus (TPP) tire inflation system.
  2. Contact Vanguard customer service at 1-888-253-3008 to schedule a free repair to replace and reactivate the Tire Pilot Plus system.
  3. If you have already received an owner notification letter (mailed February 8, 2024), follow the specific instructions provided in that correspondence.
  4. For additional information or to check your specific VIN, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
