Summary

Continental Tire the Americas is recalling 146,568 ProContact GX AO tires, size 255/35R19. The tire design may cause excessive heat to build up, leading to a separation of the internal tire belt and a sudden loss of air pressure. Authorized dealers will replace the affected tires with new ones free of charge.

Risk

If the internal tire belt separates, the tire can suddenly lose air pressure and cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your tires to see if you have Continental ProContact GX AO tires in size 255/35R19.
  2. If you have these tires, contact any authorized Continental dealer to schedule a free replacement.
  3. You may contact Continental customer service directly at 1-888-799-2168 for assistance or to find a local dealer.
