Summary

Arcimoto Inc. is recalling 94 of its 2023 FUV and MUV hybrid electric motorcycles due to a steering defect. In these vehicles, there may be insufficient thread engagement between the inner and outer tie rods, which can lead to the tie rod assembly falling apart. Owners can take their motorcycles to an authorized dealer to have the tie rods inspected and adjusted free of charge.

Risk

If the tie rod assembly separates, it will cause a sudden and complete loss of steering control. This defect significantly increases the risk of a crash while the vehicle is in motion.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle registration or purchase documents to confirm you own a 2023 Arcimoto FUV or MUV hybrid electric motorcycle.
  2. Contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293 to verify if your specific vehicle is included in this recall of 94 units.
  3. Schedule an appointment with an authorized Arcimoto dealer to have your tie rods inspected and adjusted as necessary, which will be performed free of charge.
  4. Watch for a recall notification letter in the mail, which is expected to be sent by November 30, 2023.
  5. For additional information, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
