Summary

PACCAR Incorporated is recalling 79 model year 2023 Peterbilt (348, 367, 389, 548, 567) and Kenworth (T370, T480, T800, T800B, T880, W900B, W990) vehicles. The tie rod clamps on these trucks may have been improperly heat-treated, which can lead to the clamps failing and the tie rods separating. Dealers will replace both tie rod clamps on affected vehicles free of charge to resolve the issue.

Risk

If the tie rod clamps fail and separate, the driver may experience a sudden and complete loss of steering control. This significantly increases the risk of a crash while the vehicle is in motion.
