Summary

Navistar, Inc. is recalling 451 of its 2022-2023 International HX vehicles because the tie rod clamps may have been improperly heat-treated during manufacturing. This defect can cause the clamps to break, which allows the tie rods to separate from the vehicle's steering system. Navistar will replace both tie rod end clamps on all affected trucks free of charge.

Risk

If a tie rod separates, the driver may experience a sudden and complete loss of steering control. This failure can occur without warning, significantly increasing the risk of a high-speed crash or collision.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking if it is a 2022-2023 International HX model.
  2. Contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 to verify your VIN and schedule a free repair. Reference Navistar recall number 22520.
  3. Bring your vehicle to an authorized Navistar dealer to have both tie rod end clamps replaced at no cost to you.
