Summary

CFMOTO Powersports is recalling approximately 850 of its 2023 Ibex 800 S and Ibex 800 T motorcycles. The throttle wire in these vehicles can bend excessively and break, leading to a sudden loss of throttle response. This defect can cause the engine to stall while in motion, which the manufacturer will fix for free by having dealers reroute the throttle wire and reposition rubber clamps.

Risk

If the throttle wire breaks, the motorcycle will lose power and the engine will stall. A sudden engine stall while riding increases the risk of a crash and potential injury to the rider or others.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your motorcycle's model and year to see if it is a 2023 Ibex 800 S or a 2023 Ibex 800 T.
  2. Contact an authorized CFMOTO dealer to schedule a free repair. Dealers will reposition the rubber clamps and reroute the throttle wire to prevent breakage.
  3. If you have additional questions, contact CFMOTO customer service at 1-763-398-2690 and reference recall number SAF-2024-03.
  4. For further assistance, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
