2019-2026 Terex Digger Utility Trucks Recalled for Falling Pole Guide Arm

Summary

Terex South Dakota, Inc. is recalling approximately 2,303 digger utility trucks, including various models from the General and C-series lines, equipped with pole guides. A manufacturing defect involving an insufficient weld on the plate weldment can cause it to crack, allowing the retaining pin to separate from the vehicle. If the pin separates, the heavy pole guide arm can fall unexpectedly, posing a serious safety hazard to workers and bystanders. Owners will be asked to inspect the plate weldment for cracks and can receive a free replacement if needed.

Risk

The failure of a structural weld can cause the retaining pin to detach, leading to the pole guide arm falling from the truck. This creates an immediate impact and crush risk for anyone standing near or working around the utility vehicle.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking the model and year: 2019-2026 General 65, General 80, General 95, C4000, C5000, or C6000 digger utility trucks equipped with pole guides.
  2. Inspect the plate weldment on your vehicle's pole guide assembly for any visible cracks or abnormal weld beads.
  3. Contact a Terex dealer or Terex customer service at 1-605-882-4000 to arrange for a free inspection and, if necessary, a replacement of the plate weldment. Mention Terex recall number SN737.
  4. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for more information regarding this safety campaign.
