Summary

Target is recalling approximately 69,000 Circo-brand Chloe and Conner sitting stools. The stabilizing bar on these stools can crack, which may cause the stool to collapse and result in a fall. Target has received seven reports of the stools breaking or collapsing, including five reports of injuries such as bumps, bruises, and cuts. These stools were sold at Target stores nationwide between April 2012 and June 2013 for about $15. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled stools and return them to any Target store for a full refund.

Risk

The internal stabilizing bar on the stool is prone to cracking, which can lead to a sudden structural collapse while a child is sitting on it. This defect has already resulted in seven reported incidents where children fell, causing various injuries including cuts and bruises.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the underside of your child's stool for a sticker containing the item number.
  2. Verify if your stool is affected by matching it to these item numbers: 249200218 (Red), 249200207 (White), 249200217 (Navy), or 249200208 (Pink).
  3. Confirm the stool is approximately 11 inches tall, 11 inches wide, and 11 inches deep, and branded as Circo Chloe and Conner Collection.
  4. Immediately stop using the sitting stool and keep it out of reach of children.
  5. Return the recalled stool to any Target store to receive a full refund of the purchase price.
  6. Contact Target Guest Relations at 800-440-0680 anytime, email guest.relations@target.com, or visit www.target.com and click on 'Product Recalls' for more information.
  7. For additional questions, call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
