Summary

Swift Industries is recalling about 1,800 nine-inch black rubber Swift Straps sold individually and with several bicycle bag models, including the Zeitgeist Pack, Catalyst Pack, Kestrel Handlebar Bag, Bandito Bicycle Bag, and Handlebar Foam Spacer Kits. The straps that fasten these bags to the bicycle can break while in use, which can cause the bag to fall and pose a crash hazard. Consumers should immediately stop using these straps and contact the company for a free replacement.

Risk

The rubber straps can snap during a ride, causing the attached bag to fall off the bike and potentially leading to a crash or injury. While no injuries have been reported, the firm has received 129 reports of the straps breaking.

What You Should Do

  1. The recalled products are 9-inch black rubber Swift Straps sold between March 2022 and July 2022, either individually or as part of the Swift Zeitgeist Pack, Catalyst Pack, Kestrel Handlebar Bag, Bandito Bicycle Bag, or Handlebar Foam Spacer Kits.
  2. Identify the affected straps by looking for a fox graphic stamped into the rubber near the buckle.
  3. Immediately stop using any recalled straps to fasten bags to your bicycle.
  4. Discard the recalled straps and contact Swift Industries to receive a free replacement strap.
